Hey Hey, it's that time again! Here to share with you a list of 9 things that caught my attention last month. Happy Mother's Day to all the great mommas, momma's momma's, momma's to be and those that do a fantastic job as surrogate mommas. We love you all! 1. Simply French Vanilla Syrup Attention, all coffee lovers! Have you tried this French Vanilla syrup before? Dare I say I prefer the decadent taste of Simply French vanilla syrup to the Monin brand. Hey, everyone’s taste bud is different, but it’s always good to try something new. This French Vanilla syrup is...

Hey Hey, how’s everyone doing?  We are still here .. forever grateful for that!  It’s nearly a year since the 1st lockdown. As there is now a possibility of the 3rd lockdown being extended indefinitely, if you haven’t already invested in a comfortable work area in a dedicated section of your home, this is surely the time to do so. Detailed below is a curated list based on recommended products from Amazon, that will help elevate your work from home (WFH) routine more comfortably. Product links are embedded in the text highlighted in bold. Mug warmer USBMug Warmer 1. Mug warmer Many of us can relate to...

A throwback to the discovery of the breath-taking palatial hotel.   The rumours of the long-awaited Sex and the City reboot is finally confirmed, I couldn't help but reminisce about a beautiful hotel that reminds me of the successful show. A very long time ago (2013), a dear friend and I had been in search of a short weekend break to a location we had never been before, so when we stumbled upon Taj Palace Hotel, Marrakech (now renamed Sahara Palace Hotel via Secret Escapes, the package deal was unbelievably too good to ignore.   The Abu Dhabi segment of the movie Sex and the City 2 released in 2010 was actually filmed...

Welcome to the '9 Favourite Things' section, each month I'm going to list my top 9 favourite products of the month, that I have tried, reviewed & liked. 1. Ami Whipped Shea Butter The Ami brand is a small business, black owned by a lady called Dami, who's backstory caught my attention and decided to purchase a few products from her natural range. The Bergamot whipped shea body butter is a dream on the skin and has become a firm favourite for me. When you apply the body butter, you can see as it literally melts into the skin, glides, absorbs and...

I love a bit of history, especially when it comes to a beautiful glamorous restaurant that has over 90 years of history and it’s still exudes the same class and style it had from the late 1920s. Quaglino's is an extremely beautiful restaurant hidden in St James, the heart of Mayfair in London. It’s ‘respectable’ underplayed doorway cannot prepare you for the wow factor you’re about to experience when you glide down the first set of stairs. You literally feel like you’re delving into the classic 1920s. The restaurant has so much history and if the walls could talk it’ll have a whole...

“ Stay home .. but if you must go out you can / You must not mix with other families but if you must you can meet up with one friend or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 / Don’t go to work but go to work if you must. " We really don’t know where we are coming or going in these Covid-19 streets of UK, but staying indoors is the best way to keep you and your loved ones safe and keep the virus contained. Remember .. HANDS . FACE . SPACE .  One thing for sure, there are...

Another week .. another soup for your taste buds.  Pan seared Prawn Pumpkin soup for you this week. That’s right I’m rinsing my last bit of leftover pumpkin from Halloween and creating something new. I must say I’ve totally underestimated the use of Pumpkins! Soups don’t have to be boring, add your own spices to it to get it to a palatable level. I freeze my leftover soups in dedicated ice cube trays and love to pop out (shaped as ice cubes) the quantity I need when required and defrost them whenever I feel like having something warm.  The beauty of frozen soups is...

We've just completed week 1 of the UK mandatory lockdown. I’m sure I’m not alone when it comes to getting complacent about picking up the same fast food or ordering in your favourite takeaway meal, in which ‘favourite’ is now a loosely used word. So .. starting off my blog on restaurant reviews with a great gem I came across last month. If you want something different, a high quality BBQ style street food in the comfort of your own home with all the prep work & part cooking is done for you, I would suggest trying out By Charred delivery service ‘At Home...

Soup season has arrived ohhh my people!  Thaw your senses with a bowl of homemade soup! There will be no recipes of bland soups up in here! Only tasty, lick your bowls Oliver Twist style ‘Sir .. please may I have some more? ‘ kinda soup fest! I absolutely love tasty soups, they are warm, comforting and are perfect as a starter for your dinner menu courses. Christmas is just around the corner & with the mandatory 4 weeks UK lockdown which may or may not be extended until Christmas, it’s time to start planning your festive menu and incorporate simple yet tasty...

...... so the Candle hoard is coming out! When it comes to decor styling, I follow a theme and wherever I can get away with it, I like to incorporate pieces that serve dual purposes. Just as I love Reed Diffusers that do the main job of giving out exquisite fragrant smell and the bottles double up as beautiful decor pieces. I apply this when it comes to purchasing and styling candles as well. You can’t go wrong with candle jars with lids, especially ones with decorative pieces on the lid, with muted shades or ones that add a pop of colour to a space. Scented candles...

One thing I love about autumn is the snuggle fest of cosy outfits, great selection of Autumn/Winter collections in stores and my favourite part .. walking into a warm cosy house after been out in the cold. A hot bath, slipping into comfortable PJs & slippers, and best of all, a soothing drink that warms you up whilst tucked underneath a cosy blanket. As autumn season begins, here is one of my favourite snacks which so happen to be Autumn/Halloween decor inspired. I wanted to challenge myself using pumpkins in cooking and this an ode to my autumnal drink from Starbucks, the...

This was always my ‘go to’ anytime I visit one of my favorite restaurants, but the portions they served was never enough so I decided to create my own version using chicken thighs (who doesn’t love a good thigh!) and added some prawns to the mix. This meal is wholesome, tasty and quick to make if you use pre-made green curry paste, or you can go up a level and create your own green Thai curry paste from scratch. A good quality pre-made curry paste from your local supermarket or Asian store will be good enough. It’s all about how...

Phewwwwww…! 2020….what a challenging year! Amongst other things, I really miss the excitement involved and the countdowns to going on trips. COVID-19 travel restrictions are being lifted gradually, for it to be ok to travel again….safely. As much as I love and miss travelling to different countries and experiencing the vast culture, I’m still not ready to jump on a plane as restrictions are being lifted. Safety over everything, and I want to ensure the ‘air’ is clear and I’m comfortable with the next chosen flight and destination in order to fully enjoy future travel experiences. In the meantime, I’m going...

Pure cold watermelon slushie without one cube of ice (to dilute the fresh taste) in sight! What you get on the recipe is the natural sweet taste of frozen Watermelon heightened with fresh frozen Pineapples. All you need to make this lush goodness are 3 ingredients…...

The first time I ever tried Spaghetti & Meatballs when I was a kid, the combo of both were presented from a can and warmed up in the microwave. Someone was trying to convince me it was the best thing since sliced bread, hmmmm .. a story for another day. I did subconsciously tell myself that I would never let my mouth go through such egregious crime against my palette again! Hahahaha! I remember when I came up with this recipe, I was watching the latest episode of 'The Sopranos' on TV (before box sets) and I loved the way...

This is a staple in my home, courtesy of the first cook book I ever purchased, Nigella Lawson’s ‘Kitchen’. The size and weight of the cook book made me get a special book stand on my kitchen island to proudly display. The colour of the cook book went perfectly with my kitchen colour theme, so it also served as a decor piece.I added shards of plantain chips as toppings because it needs a crowning glory & I love my desserts with a crunch! You can’t go wrong with making this banana loaf, the simplest ingredients used to make such a lovely...

I am a big fan of Caribbean food and there aren’t access to many Caribbean restaurants where I live so I usually have to wait until I go into London or Nottingham (a couple of fave restaurants there) to enjoy Caribbean dishes. This is a recipe combo that I enjoy, family, friends & colleagues that have tasted this absolutely love it. It’s my version of ‘(jerky) jerk chicken’ packed with flavour, fresh herbs and spices!!! For this recipe, you’ll get a chicken rub combo you can store in a jar for ease and keep using for your meat marinades. You...

What can I say .. if you're a coffee lover like me with a sweet tooth, you'll enjoy making this at home, especially in a scorching hot weather! 'Bravas’ is basically a mixture of the most commonly used Spanish condiments, which you’ll find in the ingredients list. These are the easiest, tastiest prawns to make and they simply go with any sides or main meal. It is heavily infused with delicious spices that has a kick to it. Course: MainCuisine: Spanish, ItalianPrep time -  5 minutesCooktime - 25 minutes Serves 4 Ingredients: 2 cups uncooked large Prawns(or shrimps) with tail on 1tsp olive oil 1tsp honey 1/2 tsp sweet paprika 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp oregano 1/2 tsp chilli flakes Sprinkle of salt & black pepper 80g Garlic butter 1 tsp dry parsley Lime wedge Method: Mix all spices and olive oil together...

I'M IN LOVE WITH D 'FUSER ! I absolutely love using diffusers as they make a noticeable difference when added to a space in a home or work environment. Not only do they serve as vessels that purge out luxurious fragrant relaxing scents, they can also serve as a robust decorative piece ! Just like we all have a favourite perfume as a signature scent, using specific reed diffusers in the home can also give your space a ‘signature’ scent. During trial and error phases, my go to places to experience the smell of diverse diffusers from different brands are HomeSense & TK...

“ I eat with my eyes, presentation is everything when it comes to plating food. Just as table setting is very important, it gives you an idea of what is to come…. ready to take you into a culinary journey. “ - FunLola I hope everyone is keeping healthy and safe in their respective homes, 2020 has been a year of reckoning to say the least and as summer creeps up on all of us, we seem to never be prepared for it! On a jollier note, it's that favourite season of the year, 'Summer Summer Summer Time!' where we can put our gardens/patios,...

Here lies a little throwback to an amazing time had by family & friends at Le Boo's 40th birthday organized and held by the amazing event planners of Heritage Awali Resort, Mauritius a couple of years ago. This resort is definitely in my top 5 resorts I would love to go back to stay, as flight restrictions are gradually being lifted due to Covid-19. At the time, our flights, airport transfer and accommodation were organised by travel agent Kuoni, but you can look for the best deals online either as a package or booking flights and accommodation separately. We were a party...
